The Friends of the Parkersburg Kothe Memorial Library is a volunteer organization that was formed in 2012 to promote the services of the library within the community.  The Friends meet a the Library on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8:30am.  All our welcome to attend!

We strive to:  
  • Focus public attention on the library.
  • Encourage the use of library resources and services.Trick or Read Program Sponsored by the Friends. Books passed out to children. Shown is the volunteers who read the story to the children attending the event.
  • Provide volunteer services for the library.
  • Fund materials and programs for the library.
  • Promote literacy.                                                                                            

Why support us?

  • The Friends promote lifelong learning and literacy by supporting children’s reading programs.
  • Provide informational activities for all age groups in order to help our library to be an active contributor to our community.
  • The friends also provide for needs beyond the regular library budget, such as additional materials, sponsorship of programs and special projects, such as Build A Bear and "Forever" Books for events such as Easter & Trick or Read.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Be a Board Member
  • Book Sale Set-Up/Tear Down
  • Create visual displays
  • Provide/prepare treats for eventsFriends Volunteer as Mrs. Claus with a child with their stuffed penguin a part of the Build a Bear Annual Event in December, partly sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
  • Help with Community Outreach
  • Assist with Special Events & Programs
  • Other (i.e. share and interest, book, or hobby)
